As authors we have to visualize our fight scenes, even getting up from our desks and bounding around the living room in mock battle. But have you ever wanted to see one of your scenes choreographed and then acted out by actors or stunt professionals? Maybe you just want to watch others have their heartfelt works critiqued?
Either way, you’ll gain valuable experience and information at CombatCon in Las Vegas – July 8-10th, 2016.
The BIGGEST event in the Writer’s track happens on Sunday 3:30-5:30 pm, after all the other writing panels.
The ACT IT OUT Contest!
Any attendees can submit their favorite fight scene which they have written, and the WINNERS will have the scenes choreographed and performed by stunt professionals and actors. The scenes will be broken down and critiqued by the panel of authors and fight coordinators. The winners will be able to ask questions and be shown how to make it work, physically and literally.
Requirements for contest entry:
All submissions will be judged by a panel of Fight Coordinators, the winners chosen, and notified, so they can make sure they are able to attend that Sunday session. If unable to remain for the entire session, a runner-up will be selected.
If you have any questions, contact: email@example.com and we will get back to you asap.
The WRITER’S TRACK
Even if your work is not chosen you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from all these people over the course of the weekend. This is the only place you can be part of everything from Swash-buckling sword fights to group participation in Martial Arts classes. Will there be blood shed… ahhhh…maybe. We’ve seen a drop or two from slipped tips or wayward blades. How heavy is a real broadsword and the armor to protect the fighter? How did Indiana Jones get that whip to snap? What’s the best weapon for close-up work. This is the place to find out how it really works. Professionals can answer all your questions.
Authors or aspiring authors can take part in the Writers Track where our guest authors will discuss everything from the Art of Writing to Writing Women Warriors, and a bunch of other fun, even gory, topics. Met the guest authors and check out Author’s Alley.
