Filming Pre-Vis & In-Camera Editing

Our Filmmaking Track is designed for directors, directors of photography, cinematographers, etc, to learn how to film fights and violent conflict. Members of this track will explore opportunities to develop characters through fight sequences, create choreography, and explore the effects of camera angles, lighting, and other technical components when filming fights. As a part of this track, filmmakers will have the opportunity to direct, film, and edit a short scene with the members of other tracks to showcase the skills they have developed. Prior filmmaking experience is not required. Participants are responsible for bringing their own cameras (e.g. high-quality mobiles phones, DSLR cameras, or prosumer/pro camcorders and cinema cameras), computers for editing, and other equipment they may desire.

The Stunt and Screen Fighting Track is for actors and stunt people interested in learning how to perform dynamic-looking combat and “sell it” for the camera. This track will take the basic principles of combat, including timing, distance, and proportion, then adapt their usage to meet the needs of performers. These skills will then be applied to scenes that will be performed and filmed in collaboration with the other tracks. Participants should be prepared to think, sweat, and go to the ground. Knee and elbow pads, water, and a towel are HIGHLY recommended.
