Intro to Handgun for Actors

An actor who doesn’t know what they’re doing with a firearm is immediately obvious on screen, and dialog written by people who don’t know anything about firearms is painful to hear.  Want to know the difference between a clip and a magazine?  Want to know what “teacupping” your pistol is?  How about muzzle sweeping?  Come on by to learn about the basics of handgun usage and handling, including different methods of holding a pistol, different firing postures, and how to draw from a holster.  Students will also learn about the parts of a handgun, how handguns work, how ammunition works, and the fundamental rules of handgun safety.

The Flamingo does not allow operational firearms on premise, and therefore they will not be allowed in the classroom.  Students will use blueguns or other plastic or rubber, non-firing pistol trainers.

Required Equipment: A few blueguns and other plastic/rubber, non-firing training pistols will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis, but students are highly encouraged to bring their own.  It’s also recommended that students bring a holster that fits their bluegun.

Note: DO NOT bring a trainer that looks anything like an operational pistol!
