Military Sabre and Broadsword

An introduction and overview of mounted and dismounted sabre / broadsword use in Europe based on manuals from the 1700 and 1800’s. This class will examine warmup (balance motions), footwork, cuts, guards, counters and fighting/fencing tactics as practiced during that period.  A comparison of various systems will be given near the end of the class. Time allowing, free fencing will be encouraged near the end. En guarde!

Level: Open

Gear Required: Fencing mask, gloves, elbow protection, etc. Some sabres simulators and single sticks will be available, but bring any one handed sword you have.
