Beau Brock began his study of historical fencing while pursuing an MA in Romance Languages at the University of British Columbia in 2006. Two years later, he moved to Toronto to work on his PhD in French linguistics, where he also started training at the Academy for European Medieval Martial Arts (AEMMA). In 2010, he achieved the rank of Free Scholler, and teaches classes on Fiore, Italian rapier, and the spada da lato, according to the Anonimo Bolognese and Giovanni Dall’Agocchie at the Ottawa branch of AEMMA, which also hosts the monthly Cut. Thrust. Smash! gathering of weapon-based martial artists.
