Bill Herndon began his martial arts training in 1980 at Bob White’s Kenpo Karate Studio in Southern California. Since then most of his martial arts experience has been with Kenpo Karate, Wadokai Aikido, and the Koga System (Aikido for law enforcement). For the last 15 years he has been affiliated with Maloney’s Martial Arts in San Jose. He also studied HEMA with Steaphen Fick at the Davenriche European Martial Artes School focusing primarily on the side sword. Bill was also a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office for 9 years. His law enforcement background included being a member of the shooting team, teaching California POST courses in officer safety and patrol tactics, and was a member of, and a bokken instructor for, the department’s Crowd Control unit.
