Jake Norwood has presented his aggressive, passionate approach to Liechtenauer’s Kunst des Fechtens, or Art of Fighting, at workshops and conferences across Germany, Sweden, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, Singapore, and the United States. He is the founder of Capital Kunst des Fechtens in the Washington, D.C. area and a founder and former president of the HEMA Alliance. He also directs the western hemisphere’s largest dedicated HEMA tournament, Longpoint, in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been featured in the New York Times and in the documentary Back to the Source. Jake is an internationally-known HEMA competitor with over a 50 medals from national and international full-contact competitions in Longsword, Military Saber, Dussack, Rapier, and target cutting since 2010. A multi-tour combat veteran of the 101st Airborne, Jake combines the training regimen and psychological toughness of the modern warrior with the reconstruction and physical application of Europe’s traditional fighting arts.
