Steel on the Sound

Join us for a weekend of knife dueling instruction and a capstone tournament with Tim Anderson, Steve Huff, John Lennox, and Tim Ruzicki in beautiful Port Townsend, WA!

Classes will include Kukri, Bowie Knife, and Navaja, and will focus on knife dueling rather than modern knife fighting or self-defense.  A new style of tournament will be held on Sunday, Jun 1, where participants may test their skills and show their mettle.

Where: The American Legion Hall, 209 Monroe St, Port Townsend, WA 98368

When:

Friday, May 30, 2025: 7 pm to 9 pm – Lecture and weapons showcase

Saturday, May 31, 2025: 9 am to 7 pm – Classes and an hour lunch

Sunday, June 1, 2025: 9 am to 3 pm – Classes, Tournament, and an hour lunch

Cost: $150 USD per participant

Meal: Optional catering for lunches and Saturday dinner will be provided at an additional fee

Equipment: Please bring a rubber or aluminum knife trainer, a fencing mask, groin protection for men and chest protection for women, and a fencing or otherwise padded jacket.  Closed-toed shoes and  leg coverings will be required (no shorts and opened-toed footwear).  For high quality, durable, and long-lasting aluminum training knives, we recommend Keen Edge Knives (https://www.keenedgeknives.com/).  Registered attendees will receive a 10% discount on Keen Edge training knives.

Tournament Prizes: First, Second, and Third place duelists will receive prizes, as will the duelist who displays the most elegance, poise, and quality actions, irrespective of rank (Duelista Elegante).  Prizes are in the form of fully sharpened dueling knives.
